Issue 2 of Postmortem Studios' every-so-oftenly magazine. This issue tackles drugs, both in and out of play.

This issue, drugs and RPGs are explored in a variety of articles around their role in gaming.

Drugs in games, drugs at games, drugs to enhance games and a more honest take on the effects of drugs upon characters - presented in a system generic way - make up this issue.

  • System - Autopsy is entirely generic discussing matters more to do with RPG theory and play than referring to any specific system.
  • Presentation - Autopsy's main focus is the articles though art is used to break up the presentation and to compliment the articles appropriately.
  • Keynotes - The roleplaying demographic contains a lot of casual users of soft drugs and anyone with any real-life streetwise skill would scoff and laugh at the presentation of the effects of drugs in most games. As with issues of sexuality we are defensive about anything that could put our hobby at risk and so we tend to avoid controversy or realism in some topics. This magazine covers the topic of drugs head on and realistically.
  • Design Notes - Way back in the mists of time, when dinosaurs ruled the earth and Fred Flintstone was still a bachelor, I was employed drawing cartoons for a drugs information leaflet for the local health authority. Our task was to inform - accurately. Not to condemn or to raise panic or to give false information, just the facts and some practical information if you did decide to take drugs, on how to do it safely. The plug was eventually pulled as attitudes moved back towards the hardline but the information and thought behind that effort has stuck with me. The intention here is not to encourage or endorse drug use but just to examine the topic more honestly and more accurately within the context of the games we play and the life experience that many of us have.
