Welcome to A Life of Angst, a world not dissimilar to our own but no less frightening for it. Perhaps the nights are a little darker, the jeans a little baggier and the top twenty a little sparser when it comes to good tunes but the world is as ours is.

With a few little additions, like vampires stalking the land by night, nothing to be too concerned about.

Some mysterious force has allowed those who most wished they were immortal creatures of the night to become them. Goths, punks, nu-metallers, spooky kids and the simply outcast of teenage society have found themselves transformed by one means or another into the very creature they would most desire to be.

  • System - Bloodsucker: The Angst uses a stripped down OGL system for which you may have to employ a twenty-sided dice for task resolution. It also contains a few sideways winks at A Certain Other Games Company in the mechanics.
  • Presentation - Bloodsucker: The Angst contains many cartoony illustration, some of which are provided by Raven Morrison who provided much of the art for the Neverwhere RPG.
  • Keynotes - A single 'mopey teenager' class, many different suitable job templates for those sorts of people, a lot of humour at the expense of Goths, Emo kids and A Certain Other Games Company and rules for the many and various supernatural powers of the Bloodsuckers. There are also stats and rules for their main antagonists. There are adventure seeds to get you started and additional, portable rules for pros and cons for characters.
  • Design Notes - After almost ten years in the LARP organisation affiliated with A Certain Games Company and mixing with the best and the worst of the people attracted to that whole 'scene' you can bet I had to vent my spleen. This is it to a large extent, though I could do more easily. If you like scathing humour or you've ever been involved in this type of LARPing or with Goth/Industrial club culture and the bitchiness that involves, then you'll like this.

Lots of feeling, very funny. Hilarious send up of the two most popular RPGs on the market.

This is a witty and fun satire written by a guy who has obviously been there, done that, and bought the tee shirt. It's written in a very loose and casual manner (with a British vernacular) and is quite easy to read.

It is a funny book and a good read.
